Recruitment

Prospective rower or coxswain:

Are you interested in starting or continuing your rowing career at a top 20 university? Located in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, Emory University offers the resources of a major metropolitan city along with the comforts of a tight-knit community on campus. Emory Crew is a student-run organization founded in 1990 that today boasts almost 80 members. In the past year, our boats have medaled at some of the most competitive regattas in the country including Head of the Charles, Dad Vails, Head of the Hooch, SIRAs, and ACRAs.

One of our greatest assets is our incredible coaching staff. Micah Boyd, the Varsity Women’s Head Coach, is a former national team member, who most recently earned a bronze-medal in the Men’s 8+ at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Jordan Smith, the Varsity Men’s Head Coach, is also a former national team member, having competed at Worlds in 2005. In addition to our coaching staff, we are the only crew that rows on Stone Mountain Lake, which offers almost 5,000 meters of straight, smooth water 365 days out of the year.

As a club sport on campus, students have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and acquire leadership positions early on. We are seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals who are interested in adding to the success of our team. While our athletes are fully committed to the sport of rowing, they are also able to participate in various clubs and organizations on campus including Greek life, music groups, religious life, and study abroad programs. We have students pursuing almost every major and pre-professional track, including pre-med, business, pre-law, and others.

At Emory, you will not only find a quality rowing program but also an excellent academic experience, all at the doorstep of Atlanta.
