Men’s Assistant Coach

Coach David Bass began rowing in 1999 during his freshman year of high school at The Bolles School (’03) in Jacksonville, FL. He was nominated captain his senior year and led his team to a State Championship in the Lightweight 4+. Following high school, David enrolled at Cornell University (’07) in Ithaca, NY, where he joined the men’s lightweight crew under Coach Todd Kennett. During this period, the Cornell Lightweights won one Eastern Sprints title (2006) and back-to-back national championships at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (2006, 2007). In 2007 David joined Emory Club Crew as an intern coach for the men’s program under Coach Jordan Smith and has been the men’s Assistant Coach since the 2009. David is currently an MD/PhD candidate in the Neuroscience Program at Emory University. He studies the neurobiology of learning and memory through in vivo electrophysiology in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Manns.
