Two Big Weekends for Emory Crew April 6th, 2009
Emory Crew travelled to Pittsburgh, PA for the last weekend of March to compete in the University Rowing Association Championship, the conference championship for Emory’s Division III conference, the University Athletic Association (UAA). This was the first year that Emory has attended the regatta since 2005, and this was the first year in the regatta’s history that all eight UAA schools were in attendance. After facing all types of weather, Emory Women’s Crew placed third overall in team points and Emory Men’s Crew came out on top for the Men’s Team Points Trophy, and the title of 2009 UAA Champions.
The following weekend, Emory Crew raced at the annual John Hunter Regatta at the 1996 Olympic course at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA). Emory had the chance to race some unfamiliar crews, down south for spring training. Facing Atlanta rival Georgia Tech, Emory Crew lead overall team points until the last race of the day, and finished in second behind GT by 6.5 points.
